The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis and the George Washington University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences are pleased to present the 2009 Samuels Foundation Fellowship for Psychoanalytic Research. This one- year grant is designed to enhance research in the career development of the selected Fellow(s). Funds are intended to support, in part or in full, a research project designed by the Applicant which addresses a clearly articulated question of importance to psychoanalysis. The selection committee encourages applicants to define and defend their choice of question and its relevance to psychoanalysis as well as the methods of study they propose.
Application is open to:
- current candidates in the Washinton Psychoanalytic Institute;
- students in the Modern Perspectives on Psychotherapy program;
- members of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis;
- residents, current doctoral students in any GWU program, or recent graduates (last three years) of these programs; or
- current GWU faculty.
The committee will consider making a single award of up to $10,000, or two or more awards of lesser amounts.
A letter of intent from the applicant which briefly describes the proposed project and summarizes the applicant's eligibility will be due by January 30, 2009.
Applications for the grant year will be due by 5 pm on May 1, 2009.
